The ACEs and Resilience Resource Commons for Communities, or ARRCC, is an action network that gives you the game board, instructions, structure and a plan. You and your communities know what to do. This collaboration gives you the how for taking action and coordinating efforts. We aim to save you time, increase partnerships within your community, and share what you know about reducing the frequency of adverse events in the lives of children, adults, and their families.

Details on the ARRCC Launch Program for 2021

This is an interactive six-month group coaching program to help community coalitions advance their strategy to minimize and address ACEs and trauma.   It will be personally led by Bill Barberg to help coalitions take advantage of the valuable resources in the ARRCC, and powerful techniques to improve the development and implementation of multi-stakeholder strategies for complex community challenges.

Who Participates?

Each community can have a group of up to 20 people participate—and many of the resources can be shared with anyone in their city or county (but not beyond their coalition).

The primary audience is people who will be involved with developing and managing the strategy, such as the coalition steering committee, backbone organizations, and funders who want to support greater impact.

Some of the training and resources will be for community partners that will be involved in specific roles.

Participants will be encouraged to meet with other relevant stakeholders between the monthly workshops to get input and refine the content being developed.

This is not about teaching people about brain science or the mechanics of specific trauma-informed practices.  This is about the processes and tools to develop and implement the strategy to have a major, community-wide impact.

What does the program include?

E-Learning Courses and Materials

  • Overview Course on Managing Community Strategies

    • 14 modules.  About 90-minutes (total)

    • This is done in the first month as an overview of the approach used

    • Can be shared with community partners

  • Mastery Course on Managing Community Strategies

    • About 6 hours of content

    • Goes deeper into the details of good strategy management topics, like how to develop effective strategic measures, action plans, and communication.

  • Monthly lesson on the ARRCC Template and Processes

    • This will be about 25 minutes and should be viewed prior to each month’s content workshop.

Monthly Workshops (6 months)

  • A 90-minute, interactive, online Content Workshop led by Bill Barberg to guide coalitions through the process of using, refining, and building on the strategy map and ARRCC content.  This builds on the monthly E-learning lesson and provides coaching on the work that will be done by the coalitions each month.

  • A 90-minute interactive, online Process Workshop led by Bill Barberg to clarify the strategy management techniques that will enhance the success of the collective impact effort.  This builds on the eLearning Mastery Course on Managing Community Strategies.

Monthly Office Hours

  • Each month, Bill will host a 1-hour GoToMeeting to provide coaching on specific questions participants can ask.

  • Other consultants will be available for additional times for Q&A if there is a need for it.

Individual Coaching Sessions (and recorded segments in a “learning library”)

  • Each participating coalition will have an initial onboarding interview where information on their situation, needs, and challenges will be discussed and summarized.  This will help the participating coalition determine what subset of the overall strategy they will focus on during the program.

  • Each coalition will get two personal GotoMeeting coaching sessions from Bill Barberg over the 6 months. An assistant will do a planning call to help define the priorities for those calls. Some content from these coaching sessions will be edited into short modules for the learning library.

Peer Connections

  • Coalitions that are working on similar things or that are in similar situations (as determined during the onboarding interview) will be matched up and encouraged to have a peer discussion Zoom or GotoMeeting call each month to learn from each other.

Monthly Time Expectations

  • Each month will have about 4-6 hours of structured learning time (E-learning, reading, workshops or coaching sessions, and optional office hours).

  • The “homework” between the sessions to work on the details of the strategy, have discussions, or otherwise build out content would average about 6-12 hours per month.

  • The more time people invest, the more progress they can make on the issues they hope to address.

What does it cost to participate?

Normally $3500 per Coalition, Qualifying United Ways 25% = Only $2625
